The BBCO is Putting the Emphasis on Community
The BBCO is an all volunteer orchestra, including the conductors, Dr. Shelby Chipman, FAMU band and orchestra director, and Ed Kawakami, FSU graduate student of conducting. The orchestra is sponsored by The Artist Series of Tallahassee as well as Tallahassee Community College. Concerts are free and open to the public.

The Big Bend Community Orchestra is sponsored in part by The Artist Series of Tallahassee, Inc., Tallahassee Community College, grants from the Council on Culture and Arts, various local and regional grants, fundraising events, private and corporate donations, and through membership fees derived from members of the Big Bend Community Orchestra. Orchestra members who purchase season passports to The Artist Series receive a discounted price and partial profits are allocated to the Big Bend Community Orchestra.
