If you wish to have more information about the orchestra or need directions to the rehearsal place, please  email or call me with your questions.  A map to the rehearsal site is located on the "Contact Us" page.  You might also like to see the information that TCC has posted on their website:  http://www.tcc.fl.edu/about_tcc/the_arts_at_tcc/music_programs

If you know of anyone who is interested in playing with us, particularly string players, please either send this information on to them, or send me their names, instrument, and email address.

September 2010

BBCOers!

Here are our "Seating Placement" excerpts (also attached) to have ready for our conductors - Winds on September 9th, and Strings starting September 16th.  If you do not wish to take part in the placements, you will be placed at the end of the section.   You are still encouraged to take a minute to talk with our conductors so they can get to know each one of you.  If you have opinions you would like to express to them about the orchestra, this is your chance to do so.

A note from conductors: "Be sure to listen to a recording prior to coming in; a quick search of YouTube, or listening to samples on iTunes or Amazon.com should give you a good idea as to general tempi, style, feel, etc.  And speaking of tempi, don't feel that you need to play it at the same ridiculous tempo as the recordings you find! We'd rather hear slow and clean rather than fast and jumbled - we would just like to hear that you know what the going tempo for the section is (ie, Is it Fast-is or slow-ish? A dirge or a dance?).  Have fun!"

Also - please choose a 30 second passage of something of your choice to play as well. It can be something from the orchestra music or anything else - just choose something you sound good playing and you like to play.

If you are receiving this and have not responded to me yet about playing in the BBCO , please let me know right away what your plans are for this season.  The first concert does not include saxophones, trombones or tuba, but we would like to know who to expect in January.

Everyone who is interested is invited to attend the BBCO Board meeting this Thursday, Sept. 2nd, at 7:30 pm in the band room at TCC.  Here are directions:  The Tallahassee Community College Band Room is room 165 on the bottom floor of the Communications & Humanities Building just north of the Administration Bldg. and the Turner Auditorium on Appleyard Dr. (1.5 miles west of Ocala Road on Tennessee St.). Turn at the blinking traffic light on Appleyard Dr.(1/2 mile from Tenn. St.). There is a parking lot to the left in front on Turner Auditorium and one to the right at the end of the Communications & Humanities Bldg. Walk west to the end of the hall.

Hope to see you all soon!!

BBCO Membership/Personnel

In case you missed it earlier, the music can be downloaded from these websites.  We won't be playing the Glinka until the second concert, but we will start rehearsing it this fall.  Please copy your part and bring it to rehearsals with you.  The strings will also be playing the Holst St. Paul Suite which our librarian, Gayle, has scanned from the music BBCO owns and sent out to the strings.  Some of them did not print just right, so when she gets back from vacation, she will send the corrected copies to you for you to print out.  No music will be handed out at rehearsal - everyone is responsible for printing out your own.  If you do not have the capability to do this, please let Gayle know.  Her email address  gmuenchow@comcast.net
